New York Sports Betting Deal Between MSG, Caesars Announced

By Lou Monaco

The World’s Most Famous Arena added another New York sports betting platform to its partnership list on Thursday.

Madison Square Garden announced a multi-year marketing partnership with Caesars Sportsbook, naming it an official sports betting partner of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, Madison Square Garden Arena and MSG Networks.

Two Partnerships with Garden Already Announced

It marks the second announcement in nine days following the Garden’s similar marketing partnership with BetMGM NY on Nov. 9.

It is also the third partnership with a sports betting entity as DraftKings NY was named an official and exclusive sports betting and daily fantasy sports partner of the Garden, Knicks and Rangers in January 2020.

Expect the partnerships with New York sports teams to pile up as mobile sports betting in New York nears.

Significant Rewards for Caesars Members

Caesars Sportsbook NY will have a branded, premium hospitality space inside Madison Square Garden that will be open for all Knicks and Rangers games, as well as additional select events, according to a news release. Caesars Rewards members — including customers who sign up for its mobile app — will have an opportunity to access the space, which will undergo a full refurbishment leading into the 2022-23 Knicks and Rangers seasons.

Once completed, the space will be highlighted with Caesars Sportsbook branding and feature unique programming, including special guest appearances, giveaways, and enhanced activations, all available through Caesars Rewards.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Caesars Sportsbook — a renowned brand in the sports betting industry — to the MSG Sports and MSG Entertainment families,” Ron Skotarczak, executive vice president of marketing partnerships for MSG Entertainment, said in the release. “Caesars Sportsbook is a key player in the growing world of sports betting — and we look forward to utilizing this partnership to further strengthen our brands’ connection with Caesars customers, while also providing the company with significant exposure across our unrivaled set of assets.”

Caesars Sportsbook will receive prominent exposure inside Madison Square Garden, including TV visible signage, in-arena LED messaging, GardenVision features and activations on the court and ice during Knicks and Rangers games, the release said. Digital boards outside of Madison Square Garden and in the new Moynihan Train Hall also will feature Caesars Sportsbook branding.

Comedian JB Smoove Face of Campaign

Both companies also will launch a new content series on MSG Networks and its social media channels featuring comedian/actor JB Smoove. A longtime Knicks fan and avid New York sports fan, JB Smoove currently can be seen as “Caesar” in its national advertising campaign and the new content series “One Course with JB Smoove,” which will integrate Caesars Sportsbook betting odds and content.

“I am thrilled to be reunited with my friends at MSG Networks,” Smoove said in the release. “I can see it now: Caesar in the Mecca! A match made in heaven!”

Currently, Caesars Sportsbook app is live in 20 states, 14 of which are apps that include mobile sports betting apps in New York.

“Caesars Sportsbook is ready for expansion into New York,” said Eric Hession, co-president of Caesars Digital. “To partner with these legendary New York brands for compelling creative content and branding uniquely positions us to reach the avid sports fans in the region.”

The Knicks (8-7) host the Houston Rockets (1-14) Saturday with tipoff at 5 p.m. ET. The Rangers (10-3-3) visit the Toronto Maple Leafs (11-5-1) Thursday at 7.
