A preview of what might be to come for New York betting takes place Thursday as the red-hot New York Mets (35-17) embark on a 10-game road trip starting with a four-game set against the current World Series favorite, Los Angeles Dodgers (33-17).
In tonight’s first game of the series, the Mets’ Taijuan Walker (3-0, 2.83 ERA) will face Tony Gonsolin (5-0, 1.80 ERA) at 10:10 p.m. ET.
At BetMGM Sportsbook New York, the Dodgers are a -165 moneyline favorite (-1.5 runs, +115), while the Mets are a +140 moneyline underdog (+1.5 runs, -140). The over/under total for runs stands at 8.5.
With the most wins in Major League Baseball, the Mets have won six games in a row and eight of their last 10. They have swept each of their last two series at home against the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals, both NL East rivals.
Amazingly, this is all being accomplished without arguably the two best pitchers in the game — Jacob DeGrom and Max Scherzer — who are both nursing injuries.
Los Angeles — which just was swept in a three-game series at home by the Pittsburgh Pirates — suddenly has a bit of a fight in the NL West. They are currently three games up over the San Diego Padres (30-20), 5½ games up over the San Francisco Giants (27-22) and nine games up over the Arizona Diamondbacks (25-27).
